The Sword & Shield Promos, also known as the SWSH Black Star Promos, form a comprehensive collection of over 300 promotional cards released throughout the Sword & Shield era from November 2019 to August 2023. Unlike standard expansions, these cards were distributed through special products such as tins, blister packs, Build & Battle boxes, and exclusive event or staff promos, offering collectors and players unique artwork and powerful card variants not found in booster sets. The series features early promotional releases for the Galar starter Pokémon Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble, along with iconic V and VMAX cards like Meowth VMAX, Zacian V, and Zamazenta V, as well as alternate full-art designs and holo treatments that showcase the evolution of the Sword & Shield era’s design language. This promo line became a cornerstone for collectors due to its diversity, rarity variations, and connection to special events, serving as a vital complement to the main expansions across the generation.
