Unnumbered Promos ( Unnumbered Promos )
About this expansion
Unnumbered Promos is a term used to describe the earliest and most historically significant promotional Pokémon cards released in Japan before the introduction of official numbering systems for promos. Distributed between 1996 and 1997, these cards were given out through a variety of early events, magazines, and campaigns, including CoroCoro Comic, early tournaments, and Pokémon Center promotions. They feature some of the most iconic and rare designs in Pokémon history, including the legendary Illustrator Pikachu, the glossy Pikachu and Jigglypuff movie promos, and the earliest holographic Mew and Mewtwo cards. Each card varies in layout, rarity, and finish, reflecting an experimental era when the Pokémon TCG was still taking shape. Without set symbols or promo numbers, these cards are instantly recognizable by their vintage design and minimalist presentation, making them prized treasures among collectors. With their rarity, historical importance, and connection to the very beginnings of the Pokémon phenomenon, the Unnumbered Promos stand as timeless artifacts that capture the origins of the Pokémon TCG and the birth of one of the world’s most beloved franchises.
