Know Your Customer (KYC)
Last updated: February 2025
Why we verify identity and how we keep your information secure when you request payouts or use certain account features.
What is KYC?
"Know Your Customer" (KYC) is the process we use to verify your identity and ensure that payouts and certain account features are only used by real, authorised individuals. It helps us prevent fraud, money laundering, and misuse of the platform, and meets regulatory expectations for financial services.
When we ask for verification
We may ask you to complete identity verification in these situations:
- Payouts (cashout): When you request to withdraw credits or earnings to your bank account via our payment partner (e.g. Stripe Connect), we or our partner may need to verify your identity and link a verified payout account.
- High-value or unusual activity: We may request verification if transaction volumes or patterns trigger internal or regulatory thresholds.
- Account security: To restore access or resolve disputes, we may need to confirm you are the account holder.
What we collect and how it is used
Depending on the type of verification, we (or our approved providers) may collect:
- Full name and date of birth
- Address (e.g. utility bill or bank statement)
- Government-issued ID (e.g. passport, driving licence) — we may use a secure third-party service to verify documents
- Bank account or payout-account details (for withdrawals)
This information is used solely to verify your identity, link your payout account, and meet legal and regulatory obligations. We do not use it for marketing. For more on how we handle personal data, see our Privacy policy.
How verification works
When verification is required, we will guide you through the process (e.g. via your account or email). This may involve:
- Completing a form with your details
- Uploading a photo or scan of your ID and, if needed, a proof of address
- Linking and verifying your payout account through our payment partner's secure flow
Verification is usually processed within a few business days. We will notify you of the outcome. If verification fails, we will explain why (where we can without compromising security) and what you can do next.
Storage and security
KYC data is stored securely and accessed only by authorised personnel or systems for verification and compliance purposes. Where we use third-party verification providers, they are bound by strict data protection and security standards. We retain KYC-related data for as long as required by law and our compliance obligations.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, or (where legally possible) request deletion of your personal data. In some cases we must retain certain data for regulatory reasons. For details, see our Privacy policy. If you have questions about KYC or verification, contact us via Support.
